Characteristics of Effective Learning and Areas of Learning statements for Foundation Stage (EYFS 2012) children. I was inspired by a local EYFS teacher and their school's learning journeys to produce these. They will also be laminated and placed onto a ring to be carried by the staff during observations. iPod/iPad themed activity for transition day. Children to design their own iPod/iPad apps to describe themselves as a person. Could then be used as a first display in the class, ready before they start in September. Differentiated so suitable from EYFS up to upper KS2. Idea taken from Pinterest, but updated to include differentiation across the primary age.

A pro-forma to complete for the end of year report for Reception F2 children. Based on the new EYFS Profile document. Each area of learning has the ELG expected statements included and room for the emerging (age and stage as appropriate) and exceeding as necessary. These will need to be added in, dependent on levels the child is working at. Space also provided for additional comments, as well as a page for the characteristics of effective learning, and general teacher/HT comments. Attendance etc can be added as appropriate.

Designed as a staff training session to become more familiar with the characteristics of effective learning. Different characteristics to be printed out on to card and laminated. Then individually/in groups to match the characteristics to the 3 main areas (Playing & Learning, Active Learning, Creating é thinking Critically). To then find an observation and discuss the characteristics that child has displayed.
